The City of Harare’s development control department has carried out demolitions in Highfield as part of efforts to enforce development regulations.

A City of Harare feedback and pre-budget consultative meeting heard that the council demolished cabins at the corner of Jabavu Drive and Mangwende Drive.

Council also carried out an enforcement operation at Stand 4046, opposite Machipisa Shopping Centre, where tuckshops had been operating at a residential property.

The meeting also heard that council demolished a cottage in New Canaan, Highfield, after it was found to have been built on a sewer line.

The demolitions are part of council’s efforts to enforce planning regulations and curb illegal developments.
