THREE drug dealers have been jailed for periods ranging from 18 months to six years after being convicted in separate cases involving the possession of 80 kg of mbanje and sachets of methamphetamine.

Criminal Investigations Department (CID) spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri has applauded members of the public for their continued support in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking countrywide.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police commends members of the public for providing credible information that led to the identification and apprehension of drug dealers,” he said. “Community cooperation is essential in disrupting drug supply networks and protecting communities from the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse.”

In one of the cases, Tinotenda Mabheka (47) and Malvin Muzamhindo (46), both from Mufakose in Harare, were jailed for six years after they were arrested on February 23, 2026, by detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics.

The detectives had received information about the duo’s drug peddling activities and arrested the pair near the auction floors along the Harare-Masvingo Highway.

The duo, who had just received their consignment, were travelling in a black Mercedes-Benz when they were intercepted and a search was conducted, leading to the recovery of 80 kg of mbanje.

They appeared in court this week before Harare Magistrate Mr Denis Mangosi, with the State represented by Prosecutor Mr Francis Jere and were convicted and sentenced to six years.

In a related matter, Tadiwanashe Dube (22), of New Stands, Stoneridge, Harare, was also sentenced to 18 months in prison for dealing in dangerous drugs.

Dube was arrested at Copacabana rank in Harare by detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, following a tip-off that she was dealing in dangerous drugs.

A search was conducted, leading to the recovery of seven sachets of methamphetamine commonly known as crystal meth.
