HARARE provincial magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo has recused herself from presiding over political activist Godfrey Karembera (Madzibaba Veshanduko)’s bail application on changed circumstances.

This comes after Karembera made an application for Ms Moyo’s recusal, arguing that she was biased, hence the need for his matter to be heard before another magistrate.

The matter will be heard before Magistrate Mr Tapiwa Kuhudzai on February 13.

Karembera is facing charges of incitement to commit public violence.

According to court papers, the march was scheduled to be held on October 17, 2025 at Robert Gabriel Mugabe Square and Africa Unity Square, Harare.

It is further alleged that police received a tip-off that the accused was distributing fliers from a silver Toyota Aqua, and tracked the motor vehicle to Patrenda Way in Glen View 3, Harare, and they intercepted it.

Police allegedly recovered about 7 200 flyers from the motor vehicle and took them as exhibits.

“Accused and his other two accomplices escaped from the scene of crime, leaving behind one of his accomplices, Malvern Mavhere, who is already on remand, and he was subsequently arrested.

“On October 17, 2025, the accused recorded himself a video inciting members of the public to join the protest at Africa Unity Square, Harare. He posted the video on several WhatsApp groups and Facebook,” the State alleges further.
