A 42-year-old Eastlea man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Harare Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of raping his employee.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the victim, a 25-year-old woman, had been employed by the offender as an accounts clerk since January 2, 2025.

The court heard that in April 2025, the offender assigned the woman additional duties late in the day after other employees had left work. At around 6pm, he allegedly called her to his upstairs office where he demanded intimacy before sexually assaulting her.

Prosecutors said the offender continued to make repeated advances on several occasions thereafter, all of which were rejected by the victim.

The woman later resigned from her position on March 6, 2026, and disclosed the abuse to a friend, who assisted her in reporting the matter to the police, leading to the offender’s arrest and subsequent conviction.

“NPAZ will continue its relentless push to bring all perpetrators of sexual abuse to book so that they face the full wrath of the law and account for their criminal acts,” said the NPAZ in a statement
