A HARARE-BASED mechanic, Crispen Muzira (38), has appeared in court after he allegedly sold a Land Rover Discovery 4 belonging to Zimbabwean Ambassador to Tanzania Hellen B Dingani (68) before converting the money to his own use.
Muzira was facing theft of trust property charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tapiwa Kuhudzai.
The matter was deferred to November 5 for trial commencement. The court heard that sometime in October 2023, Dingani asked Muzira to service her Green Land Rover Discovery 4, registration number ADV 6718.
It is the State’s case that after the job, Ambassador Dingani paid Muzira US$610. Ambassador Dingani later asked Muzira to help her sell the vehicle for US$22 000, and she gave him the vehicle’s registration book and a copy of her National Identity card.
The court heard that Muzira later sold the vehicle and failed to remit funds to the complainant.
The total value stolen is US$22 000 and nothing was recovered.
