Sheynnis Palacios, the reigning Miss Universe from Nicaragua, is set to arrive in Harare this afternoon.

Miss Universe Zimbabwe chairperson Miniyothabo Chiwenga announced that Palacios will arrive in Harare at 3:30pm today. She said her visit is part of a broader effort to promote the Zimbabwean brand, which Chiwenga says is often overshadowed by negativity.
“As the Miss Universe Zimbabwe organisation, we are excited to welcome the reigning Miss Universe to Zimbabwe as part of our initiative to highlight the positive aspects of our country. It’s time for us Zimbabweans to share our story and showcase our nation in the best light,” Chiwenga said.

A corporate networking meet and greet dinner has been arranged for her for tomorrow in the capital city.

Miss Universe Zimbabwe national director Tendai Hunda said the Miss Universe 2023 winner will be in the country for a six-day visit, with plans to tour various locations, including a visit to Victoria Falls.

Palacios, a 23-year-old mental health activist and audio-visual producer from Managua, Nicaragua, made history as the first Nicaraguan to win the Miss Universe title. Her previous titles include Miss Teen Nicaragua 2016, Miss Mundo Nicaragua 2020, and Miss Nicaragua 2023. She will crown her successor at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico, scheduled for November 16. In related news, Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Sakhile Dube is preparing to represent Zimbabwe at the pageant.
