A Harare taxi driver and part-time soccer coach appeared in court on Tuesday, charged with aggravated indecent assault on a 13-year-old boy.
Kenneth Chikunguru (33) appeared before regional magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court and was remanded in custody until October 13.
According to the prosecution, led by Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti, the complainant is a Grade 5 student.
The incident reportedly occurred on September 19, 2025, at around 6 pm, when the complainant and a friend met Chikunguru at Niceday Shops in Southlea Park.
During the encounter, Chikunguru asked whether they knew any skilled soccer player.
The complainant’s friend mentioned someone in Bikita and agreed to provide the person’s contact details.
The boys returned home to retrieve the contacts and later came back to meet Chikunguru, who then offered to drive them to his house.
Upon arriving at his residence, Chikunguru parked at the gate and instructed the complainant’s friend to call the soccer player in Bikita using the provided number.
While the complainant’s friend was busy making the call, Chikunguru allegedly sexually assaulted the complainant despite his resistance.
After the assault, the two boys returned home. Two days later, on September 21, the complainant noticed swelling on his private parts and told his uncle about the incident.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to Chikunguru’s arrest.
