Caps United defender Hardlife Zvirekwi has ventured into music with the release of a single gospel track he features on.
Gospel musician Nicholas Chirunga wrote the song and performs it with Zvirekwi.
Titled “Mukuru Wevakuru” the song is a track that reminds people that God is there and in charge of everything. Zvirekwi is a member of Kairos Community Church International.
In an interview, the footballer said that he hopes for success in music which he has a passion for but assures his football fans that they will not be missing him on the pitch any time soon.
“It is my desire to venture full-time into music but it’s a process. I cannot give a specific time or say that I will quit football for music,” he said.
The footballer says he enjoyed his time in the studio when they recorded the song. “I have been a member of praise and worship at church but I have never been in a studio. That was my first time and it was the best experience,” said Zvirekwi.
He has started writing songs for his own album.
“I will release an album. That is definite. And as I speak I am working on the songs that will feature on the album,” he said.
“My album will be pure gospel and nothing more,” he added.
He hailed Chirunga for being a brilliant mentor who is prepared to nurture talent. “Chirunga is one gospel musician who is good to work with as he is passionate to see talent growing,” said Zvirekwi.
Chirunga said the it was a good experience to have the footballer on his song.
“He is talented and I can assure you that his album will be a great.” He also encouraged other hopefuls to try their hand in the industry.
“People should not be afraid to parade their talents and in that way our music industry will develop,” said Chirunga.
The song is likely to make waves as it is already circulating on several social media networks.
Chirunga said they will submit it to radio stations this week.
