CENTRAL Region Soccer League side Hardrock could seal promotion into the Premier Soccer League if they find a way to dump MSU at Baghdad this afternoon.
The Kwekwe club lead the race by four points with just two games remaining.
And they could wrap it up today with a game to spare.
Hardrock have been superb all season after investing a lot in quality players like Prosper Kafelapanjila, Lennox Mucheto, Donald Ngoma and captain Munyaradzi Diro-Nyenye.
They also recruited Ugandan goalkeeper Dennis Kigonya who has been leading the team from the back with 23 clean sheets and two penalty goals.
Kigonya, who was with Yadah Stars in the Premiership last year, said, “I am certainly happy to be in this space right now.
“The competition in this region is so massive but we have been unrelenting all season.
“We are in the run-in and the hope is that we wrap it up before the final day.
“Most of the guys in the team have played in the Premiership previously and they want to return this year.
“That is the motivation if you ask me and we are putting in everything to try and seal promotion.”
While Kwekwe United have been relegated from the top-flight, Hardrock are sure to ensure top-flight football re-mains around Kwekwe.
They will actually bring back the game to Kwekwe as they will play at their newly-built Chahwanda Stadium.
Kwekwe United have been playing in Gweru due to a lack of a certified field in Kwekwe.
“It’s good that Kwekwe will once again see Premiership football in their town,” said Diro-Nyenye.
“We are fighting hard to seal the ticket. We will be playing at Chahwanda Stadium next year, certainly. People in Kwekwe are very happy and we are also very happy.”
Hardrock will be the third team to seal promotion across all the regions with Hunters (Eastern Region) and Bulawayo Chiefs (Southern Region) having already been promoted.
The Northern Region matrix will be resolved tomorrow with a tight race at the top featuring leaders N’ombeyawora and second-placed Agama.
