HARDROCK have strengthened their squad ahead of Sunday’s Castle Lager Premiership clash against CAPS United after completing the signing of Zimbabwe international Gerald Takwara, with Warriors striker Prince Dube also expected to join the club.
The changes form part of a wider reshaping of the squad as the title contenders prepare for the second half of the campaign. Several fringe players are also expected to leave Chahwanda Stadium as coach Kelvin Kaindu fine-tunes his squad for the run-in.
Takwara becomes Hardrock’s latest acquisition, bringing top-flight experience from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique and Saudi Arabia. The Warriors defender brings experience and leadership to a Hardrock backline as the club strengthens for a crucial stage of the campaign.
Prince Dube is expected at Chahwanda Stadium tomorrow to complete his move. The Warriors forward would further strengthen Hardrock’s attacking options as the club continues to reinforce key areas of the squad.
To make room for the new arrivals, movement is expected in the opposite direction.
Once More Uriri, who managed just 20 minutes across 20 league matches, is tipped to leave. Right-back Shelton Sibanda, who struggled to cement a regular place, could also move on, while Edward Musena is understood to be heading for the exit after featuring mainly as a late substitute.
Midfielder Junior Makunike is also expected to leave on loan after an interrupted campaign. Once regarded as one of Hardrock’s key midfield recruits, his progress was disrupted after he missed several weeks of training before battling to establish himself in the team.
For Takwara, the move marks another chapter in a career that has taken him across the continent and beyond.
Takwara previously featured for CAPS United before moving to South Africa’s Venda Football Academy and later Mozambique, where he played for Costa do Sol and Ferroviário de Maputo. He also spent time in Saudi Arabia with Al Hazem and has represented Zimbabwe at senior international level.
