Meet the goal-scoring assassin Farirai Harstings Wafawanaka, a hidden gem in Lupane.
The 18-year-old rising star who plays for Elitsheni FC in the Lupane Football league was a force to be reckoned with for his team, as he helped them finish in position four out of 8 teams.
He grabbed the golden-boot and a host of other awards, despite playing only half the matches in the just-ended season
The sharpshooting sniper lit up the pitch with a jaw-dropping 16 goals in eight games out of a maximum 14. He missed six due to injury.
Harstings has an eye-watering ratio of 2 goals per game.
The Lupane bred-footie star reveals that the secret behind his success is hard work and scoring runs in his blood.
“Kusegazini broe and I don’t skip training and I work hard”, said the soft-spoken striker.
His fine performance saw him cleaning up the awards front, scooping up the coveted Player of the season, Top Goal Scorer and a tidy sum of $180.
The rough diamond has set his sights on the big leagues where he hopes to polish his talent and shine.
Inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo, the free-scoring striker was startled by the achievements.
“I was shocked and happy at the same time and I believe that with hard work dreams do come true”.
Harstings is not focusing on football only but is juggling studies as he is an O-level candidate this year.
