HARVEST House International Church was birthed in the home of the founders and Senior Pastors, Bishop Colin and Senior Reverend Sarah Nyathi, 20 years ago.
Starting with only eight individuals in their lounge, the church has experienced tremendous growth in its 20 years of existence and now has 300 churches worldwide.
It is envisaged that 1,000 churches would have been established globally by the year 2020. Harvest House International Churches can be found in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Abu Dhabi, the United Kingdom and Australia.
In 2001, the church took a huge leap of faith and acquired what was formerly a retail warehouse and converted it into its headquarters.
This building, situated at the Corner of George Silundika Street and 13th Avenue in Bulawayo, is now a magnificent edifice that houses not only the headquarters and administration offices of the church, but is also home to 10 services that run every Sunday from morning till evening. The continued rapid expansion of the church necessitated the acquisition of 10 acres of prime land located a few minutes’ drive from the city centre in Woodlands.
Construction of the imposing 12,000-seater Harvest House International Conference Centre is on-going. Having started off with a single service in the city, the church adopted a multiple service approach in 2004. This has resulted in 10 services being established and run every Sunday at the city centre branch.
This has become the hallmark of the ministry with Harvest House churches worldwide hosting multiple services in the various places they meet.
This approach has enabled the church to cater for a diverse populace with services targeted for the young and mature. There are also services hosted in English as well as others hosted in various vernacular languages depending on the geographical location of the church.
In 1997, the church planted its first branch outside Bulawayo. It was planted in Gweru. Since then, and in pursuance of its mandate, the church has been on an aggressive church planting drive globally.
The goal is to plant 1,000 churches by 2020.
