A 30–YEAR-OLD Hatfield, Harare, man who is facing allegations of strangling his wife to death with a shoelace following a dispute over infidelity, has appeared in court.
Stephen Sarurai was not asked to plead to murder charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Lisa Mutendereki.
He was remanded in custody to October 2 and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
It is the State’s case that on September 17 the now deceased Zvikomborero Tari had a misunderstanding with her husband Sarurai over infidelity issues at their home.
The court heard that Sarurai then started assaulting Tari before strangling her with a shoelace.
Tari was then ferried to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital by her relatives, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Mr Takudzwa Jambawo prosecuted.
