FIFA acting president Issa Hayatou has congratulated Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier League soccer champions Chicken Inn for winning the title this year. Hayatou is also the CAF president. “Chicken Inn are the new Zimbabwean champions. It gives me great pleasure to send my heartfelt congratulations to Chicken Inn and their indomitable team on this great achievement, their first ever title,” wrote Hayatou.
“This title is the result of everyone involved and my congratulations go to the players the coach, the entire technical and medical staff and of course the fans. “On behalf of the world football community, I would like to thank Chicken Inn and your association (ZIFA) for helping to spread the positive message of football.”
Chicken Inn powered to their first league title after they toppled Dynamos, who have been champions for the past four years. Chicken Inn chairman Lifa Ncube said he was humbled by the recognition that his team has received from FIFA.
“We are very humbled to be recognised by the world governing body FIFA,” Ncube told the association’s official website. “We will work tirelessly and grab another championship next year. “We will ensure that the players and technical team remain motivated so that we win more silverware,” said Ncube.
