The Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) this morning held its annual congress in the capital where stakeholders reviewed performance and lessons drawn from the Covid-19-induced lockdown which affected operations.
Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu officially opened the congress.
HAZ past presidents, captains in the hospitality industry and other stake holders were also in attendance with Mr John Robertson, an economist being the guest speaker.
The congress was held under the theme: “Re-imagining and Navigating the Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Journey.”
It was noted during the discussions that there was now some degree of optimism and confidence as the tourism industry was beginning to return to some reasonable activity.
Addressing the participants, Minister Ndlovu described the meeting as arguably one of the key signature events whose outcome will shape the future of the tourism industry in Zimbabwe.
He said the congress came at a time when the tourism sector had begun to take bold steps to recovery.
HAZ president Mr Clive Chinwada said the hospitality industry needed all the assistance to ensure a sustained growth trajectory.
