He trains my hands for warfare

Sunday Sermon with Apostle Chisale

GREETINGS, beloved nation. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 reminds us, “You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.”

As intercessors, watchers, and believers in the body of Christ, warfare must be our language. If we fail to understand spiritual warfare, especially in these end times, we will not prevail. There are gates we must possess — these gates symbolise various areas within the body of Christ. Unfortunately, many have shunned warfare due to the pressures of material pursuits.

It is important to remember that war did not begin on earth; it started in Heaven. Since the prince of this earth was cast down from Heaven, we must gear ourselves for battle here on earth. Demonic gatekeepers jealously guard these gates, preventing God’s people from gaining access. Both Heaven and earth have gates — passages we must confront and overcome.

In Genesis 6:2, it is written, “That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.” These “sons of God” were fallen angels who polluted humanity and the land, introducing demonic technologies that brought creation into bondage. This pollution caused creation itself to resist and fight against mankind.

As true sons of God — meaning you and me — we are called to redeem creation from this bondage. Romans 8:19 states, “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.” Creation is waiting for the manifestation of God’s children because it was made subject to vanity, not willingly. Yet, it shall be delivered from bondage into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

There is ongoing contention between darkness and light. God is raising a generation of believers who understand spiritual warfare — those who know how to use elements of the universe to fight their battles. The Bible illustrates this in Judges 5:20: “They fought from Heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.” This shows a realm of warfare beyond the physical. Revelation 12:16 also reveals how “the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out.”

As believers, we must understand strategic warfare, including praying over various gates — political, familial, ministerial, financial and city gates. Prophetic prayer is essential for mastery. Some cities were destined for conquest through rejoicing, while others required quiet, strategic entry. Rejoicing and silence are powerful weapons.

The Bible shows us that great victories often come through specific weapons of war. In Joshua 6:20, the walls of Jericho fell after the people shouted with a great shout when the priests blew their trumpets. Similarly, dance can be a prophetic weapon — worship through movement to break spiritual barriers. I personally experienced this during a financial challenge; after dancing in prayer for three hours, I received a financial breakthrough.

In 2 Timothy 2:3, Paul encourages Timothy to “endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” Endurance requires patience, faith and hope. Hardships are temporary and our focus should be on the glory to come.

Paul also emphasises the importance of being a “good soldier” — someone who remains committed to their spiritual discipline and obedience. Unfortunately, some intercessors have betrayed their calling by giving up and returning to complacency — like David on the rooftop, who neglected warfare and fell into temptation (2 Samuel 11:1-2). Similarly, Peter’s vision on the rooftop reminds us that neglecting our spiritual watch can lead us into dangerous territory.

We are equipped with combat gear — spiritual armour — yet many believers have become civilians, unaware of the ongoing spiritual warfare. It’s time to return to the barracks, to the place of prayer and to regain our spiritual strength. Darkness is intensifying against the church; it’s time for us to manifest our authority and correct the rebellion among the sons of God, and to address what they have done to creation.

I invite you now to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and you shall be saved.

May God bless you all.
