Healthy locs begin with proper care

KEEPING your locs smelling fresh and looking neat comes down to cleanliness, moisture balance, and light maintenance not heavy products.
Here is how to get that clean, lovely look and scent consistently:
Proper washing routine
• Wash every one to two weeks (more often if you sweat a lot or are in dusty environments).
• Use a residue-free or clarifying shampoo (build-up = bad smell).
• Focus on your scalp first, then gently squeeze suds through the locs.
• Rinse thoroughly leftover product causes odour.
Drying is EVERYTHING
Never leave locs damp they trap moisture and start to smell.
Squeeze out water with a towel, then:
Air-dry in sunlight or
Use a blow dryer on cool/low heat
Thick or long locs may take hours to fully dry, so be patient.
Keep them smelling fresh (naturally)
Make a light spray:
Water or rose water
A few drops of tea tree, peppermint, or lavender oil
Lightly mist your locs every few days.
Avoid heavy creams or waxes—they trap odour.
Moisture + shine without buildup
Use light oils like:
o Jojoba
o Coconut
o Argan
• Apply sparingly to scalp and lightly over locs.
• Too much oil = dull, smelly build up.
Deep clean (once a month)
• Do a detox to remove hidden dirt:
Soak in warm water + a little apple cider vinegar + baking soda
• Rinse very well and shampoo after.
• This keeps locs light, fresh, and odour-free.
