THE gospel world has been rocked by tragedy. Pastor Barak, the powerhouse behind Wavuma and founder of Ship of Zion International Ministries, has passed away. He died on Wednesday night at a Bulawayo hospital, sending shockwaves through the music and church community.
He was just 47.
Social media exploded with grief as fans, gospel musicians, and church members posted emotional tributes to the man whose voice lifted spirits and whose sermons ignited faith.
Family spokesperson Elder Titus Kawadza confirmed the devastating news. “It’s true, our son, brother, and father has left us. As we await a post-mortem, early indications point to cancer-related complications,” he said.
Pastor Barak was no ordinary preacher. He was a musical minister, a man who sang and preached with equal passion. His music topped charts and touched lives. Songs like Wavuma became anthems in churches, homes, and even on the streets.
His powerful stage presence and soulful voice drew massive crowds, earning him a loyal following across Zimbabwe and beyond.
Though his physical voice has been silenced, his spiritual impact is far from over. Radio stations like Star FM, Skyz Metro FM, and Khulumani FM are expected to flood the airwaves with his music in tribute.
Mourners have gathered at 91 Percy Avenue, Hillside, Bulawayo, where friends, family, fans, and congregants are coming together to honour a man whose ministry went far beyond the pulpit.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten. Pastor Barak’s legacy lives on in every note, every lyric, and every soul he uplifted.
