Heaven is so real translated into ShonaTitle: Denga Ririko Zvechokwadi

AWARDWINNING novelist, children’s writer and dub poet Ignatius Mabasa has translated Choo Thomas’ “Heaven is so real” into Shona.
The English version was originally published in 2003.

The 218 page volume, divided into 28 chapters, gives Shona-speaking Christian believers an opportunity to explore a controversial topic – heaven.
In “Denga Ririko Zvechokwadi”, Choo “tells a story of her encounters with Jesus Christ, where she visited heaven many times and saw hell twice.”
Choo Thomas is a Korean-American woman who accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour in 1992.

She says after two years, “she saw Jesus’ visible presence at a Neighborhood Assembly of God in Tacoma, Washington and in 1995 she began having physical manifestations from the Holy Spirit. In 1996, the Lord Jesus escorted (her) into heaven and told her to record what she has seen and heard, bringing forth the book, ‘Heaven is so Real'”.
That Ignatius Mabasa translated such a large volume into Shona is a pointer, for everything is possible with the Lord.

In future sections, Divine Appointments will talk about the translated version and how the translator managed such a mammoth task.
“Denga Ririko Zvechokwadi”, is also a challenge in an era when most Christians are opting to use English publications (printed, audio and video).
