HERENTALS College was closed this morning as the City of Harare intensifies its “Restore Order” initiative in the Central Business District.

Some students were forced to leave the college along Robert Mugabe Road through the back door.

“My daughter phoned me to say that their lessons have been disrupted by the closure of the building. We are not sure when the building will be reopened,” said one of the parents.

Along the same road, the Edgars shop was also closed. Several tenants in various buildings have been losing business due to the failure of building owners and managers to comply with the City’s regulations.

The City of Harare is urging building owners to adhere to by-laws that include the payment of rates, the installation of fire extinguishers, and the obtaining of necessary licenses, among other requirements.
