HERENTALS Under-20 continued their dominance over title chasing Black Mambas in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League when they won 1-0 at Motor Action yesterday.
The table toppers maintained their seven-point lead which may be cut to four if second placed Chegutu Pirates manage to win against Come Again this afternoon.
A solitary strike by Silas Azeti in the 67th minute was enough to seal maximum point for Herentals U-20.
“The Young Students” coach Paul Benza said he was happy with the win.
“I am very happy for the boys as they did what we were planning for throughout the week. We have never tasted defeat to Black Mambas we are happy that we have managed to continue with our fine record.
“The game was a balanced affair and we managed to get the maximum points. We did not look much into the fact that they are chasing the title and had a single defeat coming into our game,” said Benza.
Black Mambas coach John “Toto” Ncube conceded defeat and said they are going to go back to the drawing board and make sure that they secure maximum points in their next match.
“We were unfortunate and we are going to remain focused as we continue to chase our dreams. We are not yet done in our pursuit of the championship and we will continue to work hard,” said Ncube.
