THE Herentals Group of Schools and Colleges recently held its first nationwide arts and culture talent show in Bulawayo, providing primary school students with a platform to showcase their diverse talents in modelling, poetry, dancing, and music.

Winners of the contest were awarded school fee vouchers and monetary prizes, with Musa Matha, a Grade Three pupil from Nkulumane, crowned Mr Herentals, and Tt a Grade Six pupil from Machipisa, named Miss Herentals.

Mr John Dhadhi, an official from the institution, emphasised the importance of the event in highlighting the unique abilities of students across various centres. “This is a national event that we host annually across our centres. All our centres are participating here,” he stated, underscoring the commitment to nurturing talent beyond academics.

Herentals pupils showcase their talent during arts and culture at Amphi theatre in Bulawayo recently.

The talent show coincided with the recent expansion of Herentals, which opened new branches in Matabeleland South and Mashonaland West, bringing its total to 72 branches nationwide. This rapid growth reflects the institution’s dedication to providing quality education and fostering talent in both academics and sports.
Founded in 1998 as a backyard project, Herentals has transformed into a reputable educational institution headquartered in Harare. The management committee recognised the visionary leadership of founder Professor Innocent Dambudzo Bedza, whose efforts have driven the institution’s remarkable success.

To further support academically talented students, Herentals has launched a scholarship programme named after Bedza, awarded annually to learners who excel at Grade Seven. This scholarship covers expenses from Form One to Form Four, while students achieving a minimum of eight A’s at Form Four are granted scholarships for their advanced-level studies within the Herentals group.
As Herentals continues to expand its reach and enhance its offerings, the institution remains committed to nurturing the potential of every student, ensuring they have the skills and opportunities to thrive in their chosen paths.
