HERENTALS Football Club coach, Kumbirai Mutiwekuziwa believes his side has all it takes to kill FC Platinum’s dream of a cup double.
The two sides are set to clash in the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup with the venue for the tie still to be decided. Bulawayo Chiefs and Black Rhinos face off in the other last four encounter. FC Platinum certainly have their eyes on a cup double.
Unless a miracle occurs, FC Platinum are on course for their fourth league title. With seven games to go to the finish line, FC Platinum are top of the table with an eight point lead over Dynamos.
Not only that, they could seal a cup double by winning the Chibuku Super Cup.
Herentals, however, stand in the way. The Students progressed to the semi-finals after a 2-1 victory over Manica Diamonds.
FC Platinum on the other hand beat Dynamos on penalties to book a last four slot.
Mutiwekuziwa is looking forward to the FC Platinum challenge.
“They are playing very well (FC Platinum). You look at how they are playing in the league, there is no denying the quality they have. But this a cup game and anything is possible,” said Mutiwekuziwa.
“Obviously we are the underdogs going into that game but we are using that as motivation. Being at this stage is motivation enough for the players and we really looking forward to the encounter.
“This is a great milestone for the club, and I am really happy with what the squad has achieved.”
FC Platinum won last year’s Chibuku Super Cup with a 5-3 on penalties win over Ngezi Platinum after the match had concluded 0-0 after extra time.
