PROMOTED ZIFA Northern Region Divison One side Herentals, who have promised to shake the domestic football establishment next season, will be presented with their trophy before their match against Harare City Cubs tomorrow. The ceremony will fittingly be held at the spiritual home of domestic football, Rufaro.

The Students were promoted to the top-flight with seven games in hand. Herentals will then host their annual awards ceremony after the game at their Chitungwiza campus. The awards gala will see the team honouring numerous players and some of the categories include the Golden Boot winner, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, Most Loyal Player, Most Consistent Player, among several others. Kuda Remba, the team’s representative, said they believe their players deserve to be honoured.

”We are going to honour some of our players who helped us gain promotion and they will be rewarded handsomely. The event will start in the CBD where we will march from our campus to Fourth Street in the morning and we will visit locations like Warren Park, Kuwadzana, Glen Norah, among others. There will be a lot of activities as we have organised a soccer tournament for our schools who have been supportive through and through. After the match we will have our awards ceremony with Leonard Zhakata being the guest entertainer. We are doing this so as to encourage our players as we go for the Premier League,” he said.

Herentals dominated the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League this season. They also provided the country with a player who featured for the Warriors during their successful campaign in the COSAFA Castle Cup. Blessing Majarira scored one goal for the Warriors during that adventure. Herentals are set to unleash their 45-year-old director, Innocent “IB9” Benza, as one of their players in the domestic Premiership next season.
