FUN-LOVERS in Hwedza and surrounding areas are set to be the biggest winners in Mashonaland East on August 12, as the province hosts this year’s Heroes Music Gala at Kujeke Growth Point.
The event will provide locals with a fantastic opportunity to engage with renowned artistes in their own community.
This year’s Heroes Music Gala headline acts include Tendai Dembo, Simon Mutambi and Mark Ngwazi.
Other sungura artistes scheduled to perform at the event include Clemence Magwaza and Allan Chimbetu.
Energetic hype man DJ Fantan, along with his Chillspot Family (including DJ Levels and Ribhe), will also be in action.
Ndunge Yut, who has greatly benefitted from this crew, is expected to grace the event alongside Jah Master and rising star Nisha Ts.
Reggae lovers can look forward to Emmanuel “Mannex” Motsi’s performance at the gala.
Mannex, who has transitioned from urban grooves to pure reggae music, has been a notable figure in the industry for years.
Songbird Shantel Sithole, who has captured many hearts with her blend of kanindo and comedy, is now a regular performer at national events.
Her presence will undoubtedly add the expected spark.
Bulawayo’s most sought-after rapper Mzoe 7, the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Band and mbira princess Sasha Amadhuve will also light up the event.
More groups from Mashonaland East are expected to join the line-up to ensure the province is well-represented.
Lennex Mandipaza, the principal information officer in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, confirmed the ongoing preparations for the event.
“The 2025 heroes gala will take place on August 12 at Kujeke Grounds in Hwedza, running from 6pm to 6am.
“The venue has been secured and household names that are familiar to many will take part in this event. Fans should brace themselves for yet another exciting gala,” he said.
Following confirmation of the dates and venue, the Heroes Musical Gala excitement has gripped both fans and performers.
“Performing at national events is one of my favourite tasks and I always strive to give fans the best. I will be performing alongside my colleagues and I promise positive vibes,” said DJ Fantan.
“I aim to create lasting memories and our fans in Hwedza should expect the same when we visit. We last performed in Hwedza three years ago on Christmas Day at Honourable Machakaire’s festival. We are returning in high spirits.”
Similar sentiments were echoed by Sithole.
“I am ready to salute all the living and departed heroes through song and dance this year. It is always an honour to perform at national events, which remains a privilege for some of us. I never thought I would be remembered as one of the consistent female artistes serving my nation with dignity,” said Sithole.
Known for giving her all wherever and whenever she performs, Sithole urged people to come in large numbers for this event.
In line with the Government’s mantra of leaving no one behind, national events have been hosted in various towns across the country.
Last year’s Heroes Gala, held in Bikita, Masvingo province, attracted thousands of fans, awakening Nyika Growth Point from its deep slumber as the country’s heroes/heroines were celebrated.
Ngwazi, Muridzo and Dembo headlined last year’s event.
To date, national galas have also been hosted in remote and humble locations such as Murambinda Growth Point in Buhera, Mt Darwin, Dotito Growth Point and Gokwe’s Nembudziya Business Centre.
