Heroes Sports gala on the cards

ELITE Community Sports Academy will host the inaugural Ziva Kwawakabva Heroes Sports Gala at Harava Dam Resort near Chitungwiza with several sports codes being competed for from August 6-9.

The event, dubbed ”Ziva Kwawakabva Heroes tournament”, will see different clubs competing in football, volleyball, netball and snooker.

Tournament co-ordinator, Tendai “T-Buns” Zhakata, said they are looking forward to hosting a successful inaugural sports gala.

Zhakata, who is also the brains behind anti-sanctions race, said registration is now open for the sports gala.

“We have decided to remember our Heroes by hosting a sports gala at Harava Dam in Chitungwiza, where we will have several sports codes like football, netball and volleyball.

“The idea is to educate our youths on how the heroes came about through sports. We will have teams like Black Rhinos Queens, Black Mambas Queens, ZPCS Queens, Herentals Queens and Harare City Queens among several others in women’s football. We will also have some teams like Koala, Water Works, St Mary’s Police, Roadport, Eyecourt and Retreat in the men’s football.

“The event will also have entertainment by several artistes,” said Zhakata.

The Ziva Kwawakabva Sports Gala is being supported by Nyaradzo, Mr T-35, Ethical Tobbacco, TIMB, Metro Peach, ZLG and Mashwede Holdings among several others. — BBC Sport
