High Court grants bail to suspected forex dealer

THE High Court in Harare has granted US$50 bail to a suspected illegal foreign currency dealer, Rangarirai Chimbamba, who had been denied bail by a magistrates’ court.

She is the first of more than 200 people arrested for illegal foreign exchange dealing to have reached the conclusion of her appeal to the High Court and been granted bail.

According to a statement by the National Prosecuting Authority, Chimbamba was on Friday ordered to deposit US$50 through the Clerk of Court, Harare Magistrates’ Court.

She was also ordered to reside at the given address and to report to the police once a week.
