BULAWAYO High Court judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi, blasted Gweru double murder convict Peter Dube on Wednesday, branding him a ‘sadist’ and ‘psychopath’ as he sentenced him to two life terms in jail for the heinous crimes.

Dube, a polygamist who resided in Gweru and was a businessman, faced two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder after he suspected that his second wife Nyasha Nharingo was involved in an extra-marital affair.

Justice Mutevedzi described Dube as a ‘coward’ who did not engage his wife to find out whether the allegations that she was cheating on him were true or not.

On 22 April 2021 Dube adopted a ‘war time’ strategy and opened fire to callously kill his wife in cold blood, said the judge.

He said in his violent, uncontrollable and misplaced anger, the accused then fatally shot Shelton Chiduku and Gamuchirai Madungwe.

Justice Mutevedzi said Dube returned to the room and shot his second wife, Nyasha, and Nyaradzo Nharingo, leaving them seriously injured.

He sentenced Dube to a life sentence for each count of murder, meaning he has been sentenced to two life sentences in jail. He further slapped him with 10 years for each count of attempted murder.
