HIGHLANDERS broke a four-year run without an away win with this victory which also took them into the top-four of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.
Ray Lunga, Lynoth Chikuhwa and Washington Chikuhwa scored for the visitors while Yadah replied through substitute Tanaka Masiwa and Fortune Binzi.
Bosso took their points tally to 41 and jumped two places up the ladder to fourth, at least for 24 hours.
The Bulawayo giants had last won an away league match in 2018 at Gibbo against Triangle.
Highlanders are enjoying a new lease of life under Portuguese coach Baltemar Brito.
And they started yesterday’s match with so much hunger.
They didn’t take long before Lunga headed home in the 10th minute and Navaya stretched the lead for Bosso to take a 2-0 advantage to the break.
Assistant coach Joel Luphahla was happy after the win.
“We are very happy as the technical team. You know sometimes we have been trying to win without success and to come here and win is something remarkable.
“I think the boys also took the foot off the pedal. But I am happy we did well.
“We are very happy. And the fans are also happy. It wasn’t easy but then our discipline and focus won us the match” said Luphahla.
“We are very happy to win the match.
Well done to the boys, well done to everyone and we will keep pushing.”
Yet Bosso had to survive by the skin of their teeth as Yadah threatened to draw level right from 3-0.
Masiwa and Binzi scored in quick succession towards the end and for once the once one-sided game sprung to life as the Genesis Mangombe team piled on the pressure.
In fact, Bosso should count themselves lucky as the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries side asked tough questions in their search for an equaliser.
Mangombe was naturally disappointed with the result.
“I am disappointed, we allowed them to play and dictate the pace of the game in the first half,” said Mangombe.
“It was a match that we stood a chance to take something from. It was a tough match but we were slow in the first half and tried to play our normal game late on,” said Mangombe.
“But, it was too late for us. We lacked concentration in key moments of the game.
“We should have buried our chances but then failed.
“Tough luck and we go back to the drawing board and see how we can move on.”
