Highlanders mourns supporter Mbalenhle Sibanda, fourth victim of tragic accident

HIGHLANDERS Football Club has confirmed the death of club member Mbalenhle Sibanda, who was among the four people who lost their lives in a tragic road traffic accident along the Bulawayo-Gweru Road on Thursday night.

Sibanda died alongside Highlanders chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Sifiso Siziba and treasurer Nkani Khoza in the accident that has plunged the Bosso family and the entire football fraternity into mourning.

In a statement, Highlanders expressed sadness over Sibanda’s passing, describing her as a passionate and loyal supporter whose life reflected the values of the club.

“The Club also wishes to confirm, with profound sadness, that the fourth person who tragically lost her life alongside our Executive Members was our beloved Club member Mbalenhle Sibanda,” said Highlanders.

The club said Sibanda’s love and commitment to Highlanders embodied the spirit, pride and unity that define the institution.

“Mbalenhle was a passionate and loyal supporter whose love for Highlanders Football Club embodied the spirit, pride, and unity of our great institution. Her unwavering dedication to the Club and the warmth she shared with fellow supporters will be remembered with deep gratitude and affection,” the club said.

Highlanders extended its condolences to the Sibanda family, her friends and the wider Bosso community, saying it stood with supporters during the difficult period of mourning.

“We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Sibanda family, her friends, and to the entire Highlanders family during this incredibly difficult time. We also stand in solidarity with all our members and supporters as we mourn this heartbreaking loss together,” the club said.

The club said Sibanda’s loyalty and love for Highlanders would continue to inspire generations of supporters.

“May her soul rest in eternal peace. Her memory, her loyalty, and her love for Highlanders Football Club will forever remain in our hearts and will never be forgotten,” Highlanders said.
