THREE Chibuku Super Cup first round matches are lined up for this afternoon with Bulawayo football giants, Highlanders set to entertain Greenfuel at Barbourfields Stadium.
The other cup contest’s fixtures will see last year’s league first runners-up Manica Diamonds take on newbies Chegutu Pirates at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare while Simba Bhora do battle against Herentals at Wadzanayi Stadium.
The game between Simba Bhora and Herentals was initially scheduled to take place yesterday.
The country’s biggest knockout tournament presents the winners a chance to get involved in Caf inter club football and it has huge prize money that Bosso head coach Kelvin Kaindu said should also motivate them to do well.

“If you are winners, you are definitely given the opportunity to represent the country on an international stage, and that is the Caf Confederations Cup. So, there is a lot at stake, and also the prize money is huge,” said Kaindu.
Bosso were the 2019 Chibuku Super Cup winners and they will definitely be out to douse Greenfuel and in the process atone for their league poor run at home.
In their first leg league tie, Bosso and the Chisumbanje based side played a one all draw at Greenfuel Arena.
Following a massive player exodus in mid-season, Greenfuel are now being captained by ex-Highlanders skipper Honest Moyo who will be expected to bring out his best against his former paymasters.
The Moyo marshalled visitors rearguard will have to keep an eye on hard-working Bosso new signing Nqobile Ndlovu, Brighton “MaNinja” Ncube, Lynoth Chikuhwa while it remains to be seen whether Never Rauzhi will be thrown in.
Signed from Bulawayo Chiefs on a six-month loan deal, Rauzhi has been in the treatment room owing to a back injury.
Bosso will also bank on workaholic McKinnon Mushore and industrious young midfielder Marvin Sibanda among others.
The Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final matches will be played on the weekend of September 21-22, followed by the semi-finals on October 26-27.
The final of the tournament is set for November 30 at a venue yet to be announced. Dynamos are the 2023 Chibuku Super Cup Champions after seeing off the challenge of Ngezi Platinum at Baobab Stadium.
It was a deserved victory for Dynamos as defending league champions Ngezi Platinum never rose to the occasion on the day. The triumph ended Dynamos’ major cup drought.
