HIGHLANDERS have promised a major surprise for their supporters at the club’s Family and Fun Day as part of activities to mark the Bulawayo giants’ centenary celebrations at the Club House on Saturday.

The announcement was made by club board chairman Luke Mnkandla during a press conference on Tuesday, with the event expected to bring together the Bosso family in a celebration of the club’s 100-year history.

Mnkandla said the day would also feature a Centenary Cake Cutting Ceremony, providing an opportunity to reflect on the generations that have contributed to the growth and legacy of Amahlolanyama.

“One of the highlights of the day will be our Centenary Cake Cutting Ceremony, a symbolic moment as we celebrate 100 years of Highlanders Football Club. This ceremony will provide an opportunity for us to reflect on the generations who have contributed to the growth of this great institution and to honour the legacy they have entrusted us,” said Mnkandla.

He added that the club had something special in store for its members and supporters, although he did not disclose details of the planned surprise.

“During the Family Fun Day we will unveil a major surprise as part of our Centenary celebrations,” he said.
Beyond the football field, Highlanders view the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate the club’s wider identity as a community institution whose history has been shaped by generations of members and supporters.

Dumisani Sandi said the gathering was intended to bring the Bosso family together and celebrate the traditions that have sustained the club over the past century.

“It is a family and a community institution built on a century of unity, pride, and tradition. The Family Fun Day is organised to bring together our members, supporters, partners, and their families to celebrate the culture and heritage that define Amahlolanyama,” said Sandi.

The Family and Fun Day forms part of the club’s centenary activities, with the emphasis extending beyond football to the unity, pride and shared heritage associated with Highlanders.
