Highlanders seek response as PSL action continues

HIGHLANDERS will be looking to bounce back when they host Manica Diamonds at Barbourfields

Stadium on Sunday after Dynamos spoiled their centenary celebrations with a 1-0 victory in the

Kuzana Sports and Creatives Economy Expo finale.

Bosso endured a disappointing afternoon in front of their home supporters, conceding within the

opening five minutes as Frank Agyemang’s strike handed DeMbare bragging rights.

The defeat was a setback for the Bulawayo giants, who had hoped to crown their 100th anniversary

celebrations with victory over their biggest rivals.

Despite the disappointing result, Highlanders expressed gratitude to the Government, football

authorities, sponsors, partners, supporters and other stakeholders who contributed to the

centenary celebrations and the build-up to the historic fixture.

In a statement, the club acknowledged the collective effort that went into making the centenary

activities and the clash against Dynamos a memorable occasion.

Bosso must now turn their attention to Manica Diamonds, with coach Benjani Mwaruwari hoping

his charges can translate their performances into positive results.

After the defeat to Dynamos, Mwaruwari admitted his team had started slowly but improved as the

match progressed, while also highlighting the side’s longstanding struggles in front of goal.

Highlanders will need to be more clinical in the final third if they are to return to winning ways and

give their supporters something to celebrate at Barbourfields.

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League programme gets underway on Saturday, with ZPC Kariba

hosting Agama at Nyamhunga Stadium, FC Platinum entertaining CAPS United at Mandava

Stadium and Simba Bhora taking on Herentals College at Wadzanayi Stadium.

MWOS meet Triangle at Ngoni Stadium, while Bulawayo Chiefs host Ngezi Platinum Stars at

Luveve Stadium. TelOne face Hunters at Ascot Stadium, with Dynamos taking on Hardrock at

Rufaro Stadium.

The match between Scottland and Chicken Inn has been postponed because Scottland will be

competing in the CAF Champions League.
