POLICE in Beitbridge have arrested an 18-year-old man linked to a violent highway robbery that left a traveller bruised and stripped of his cash and cellphone.
National police SPOKESPERSON Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Moses Muleya, who was picked up on 28 September in connection with the attack which occurred earlier this month along the Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road.
“Police in Beitbridge arrested Moses Muleya (18) in connection with a robbery case which occurred at the 285 km peg along Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road on 08 September 2025 at around 0130 hours,” read the statement.
Investigations established that Muleya and three accomplices, who are still at large, pounced on a man who was searching for transport in the dead of night.
“They assaulted him and stole US$400 and a Samsung cellphone,” said Comm Nyathi.
The suspects vanished into the darkness, leaving the victim stranded and nursing injuries. Muleya was later tracked down, but his alleged partners-in-crime remain on the run.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the fugitives and urged the public to continue supplying tip-offs.
