and Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen to make the Argentine a part of his squad for the forthcoming season.
Higuain has been linked with a number of European clubs including Juventus and Napoli, but the striker’s agent believes that the Gunners are the nearest to clinching his signature.
“I think that Higuain is now closer to Arsenal,” he told TMW.
“Juventus are a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for them. Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines.
“Saying that, I can’t deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.”
Arsenal soccer legends Lee Dixon and David Seaman have, meanwhile, backed the potential signings of Higuain and Marouane Fellaini.
The Gunners are hot on the heels of the talented duo, and with Carlos Tevez on the verge of signing for Juventus, Arsene Wenger appears to be in pole position to land Real Madrid’s Higuain — a move Dixon considers a no-brainer.
“If it comes off (Higuain signing for Arsenal), hopefully from an Arsenal point of view, he’s quality through and through,” the former full-back told Sky Sports News.
“He will score goals there’s no doubt about that.
“He will get chances at Arsenal because they do create chances, they play his type of game so I think he’ll fit in really well.” — Sky Sports-Metro.
