HILLCREST Schools is harnessing the power of sport to improve its infrastructure, with the Hillcrest Schools Golf Day being one event lined up to help fund the institution’s solar power installation.
Hillcrest has a reputation for sporting prowess, particularly with its rugby team, the Leopards, which has been a force to be reckoned with in various high school rugby competitions.
However, the Hillcrest Schools Golf Day, scheduled for March 28 at Chapman Golf Club in Eastlea, Harare, will feature a different set of participants — not the schoolchildren — taking to the course.
Reads a letter of invitation to the Hillcrest Golf Day: “We cordially invite you to participate in the Hillcrest Schools Golf Day, a charity event aimed at raising funds for our school’s solar project. This initiative is part of our efforts to promote sustainability and reduce our carbon footprint.
“The Golf Day event will take place on Friday, 28th March 2025 at Chapman Golf Club, Harare. We invite you to join us for a fun-filled day of golf, networking, and giving back to the community. We are seeking your support in the following ways; cash or kind sponsorship to support our solar project. Sponsorship of golf prizes for the winners. Hole sponsorship to help cover event costs. Your contribution will greatly assist us in achieving our goal of a sustainable and eco-friendly learning environment for our students.
“In recognition of your support, we will provide branding opportunities throughout the event. Please refer to the attached document for related costs.”
Hillcrest Schools events and marketing coordinator, Michelle Nyabadza-Tobert said: “This is our first event of its kind, where we are involving our partners. The solar project costs US$200 000, so this effort aims to contribute towards that initiative. “We are also planning another golf event in Mutare, following the Harare event. The amount we need to raise is substantial, so we will be exploring various fundraising avenues.”
The Hillcrest Schools Golf Day will require participants to pay a fee of US$60 per individual player, while teams will pay US$200 per team.
