THE 2013 edition of the Hillside Masters Golf Championships tees off this morning in Mutare with several amateurs expected to take part.
Local amateur golfers return to action exactly a month after they last took part in the Bata Power tourney. A large field is expected today as the Hillside Masters carries some order of merit points. The Hillside course will host its second high-profile tournament after successfully hosting the Manicaland Amateur Championships in June. Clive Nguru is likely to be the top dog this time around.
Zimbabwe Golf Association vice-president, Borniface Chigorimbo, said they were expecting a huge field. “We expect great competition as the tournament carries some order of merit points that are essential for a place in the national team selection.” Chigorimbo added. Meanwhile, Chamber of Mines Golf tournament holders Zimplats, are upbeat on their chances of retaining the trophy.
The tornament tees off at Leopard Rock in Vumba this morning and has attracted almost 160 players.
