PENHALONGA-BASED hip-hop artiste MK47 (real name Mercy Kaminyu)is back with a bang after releasing her fourth single recently, Baba (Thank You).
Baba was recorded at TMG studios in Harare and was produced by Axon Bobo aka Mr Noxa. The song mainly focuses on fathers, especially those who have taken responsibility on fatherhood and deserve praise for their fatherly role.
“This is a song dedicated to every loving and responsible father out there. Fatherhood is not easy and neither being a role model as a father,” she said.
This is MK47’s fourth single after she did Ndadzoka featuring Flexxo and Mr Noxa last year. Ndadzoka was followed by Nzira then Tisu Tine Yese featuring Mr Noxa in the same year.
Mk47 has been doing very well in the local scene and her music is well received. She is the brain behind Hip-Hop Thursdays, a hip-hop show held every Thursday at Courtauld Theatre.
She is also in a process of compiling her first album. The talented chanter lamented lack of sponsorship as one of the challenges that she is facing in the music industry.
“My musical journey is very hard because I don’t have any sponsorship and it is the greatest limitation I am facing. With sponsorship I know I will go far,” she said.
Mr Noxa who produced the single believes that Mutare artistes are talented and that they can make it on the music map.
“I see big things coming from Mutare. So far all of the Mutare artistes I have worked with are unique and will quickly find themselves on the top spot of Zimbabwe rappers of which some of them are already there. We talk of artistes like Kritic Igwee, MK47,Teq Niq and Flexxo,” he said.
