History may repeat itself: Rhinos coach

BLACK RHINOS FC head coach Saul Chaminuka says they have prepared well for their Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final tie against Chicken Inn FC to be played at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

Interestingly, last year, the two sides met each other at the same stage of the competition and the army side prevailed over the Gamecocks after a penalty shootout.

The match, which was played at Rusape’s Vengere Stadium, had ended one all in regulation time.

“We are ready to travel to Bulawayo and cause an upset. This is a cup game and we are naturally motivated to do well. We have also been working hard to be in good form. In a league match that we played against them earlier on this year, they beat us one nil at Luveve Stadium.

“In the Chibuku Super Cup match we played against them last year, we beat them. It’s a cup tie and history can always repeat itself,” said Chaminuka.

He added: “However, we can only underestimate Chicken Inn at our own peril because they are an offensive side. I think the better team of the day will win this match.”

Of late, Black Rhinos have been doing well and last weekend they handed third placed Manica Diamonds a 2-1 defeat to ease their relegation worries.
Chicken Inn will be without the services of their captain Xolani “Lolo” Ndlovu and first choice goalkeeper Donovan Bernard as both travelled to Botswana with the senior national team for an invitational friendly match that will also be played on Saturday.

Gamecocks head coach Prince Matore is likely to hand hard running Neilson Ketala and their equally good second choice goal minder Pride Zendera starting places.

Rhinos will need to be wary of the Brian Muza and Malvin Hwata striking partnership that has been ably complemented by Gamecocks man of the moment Michael Charamba.

In the middle of the park, veterans Tafadzwa Kutinyu, George Majika and Richard Hachiro are heavily tipped to give Chauya Chipembere’s Allen Gahadzikwa and crew a difficult time.

The match will start at lunch time on a day when FC Platinum will do battle against Harare giants Dynamos at Mandava Stadium.
