Police in Mashonaland East Province are investigating a case in which a Harare man was drugged before being robbed of his belongings by unknown people along the Harare-Nyamapanda Highway recently.

Timothy Jiri boarded a Honda Fit at Total Service Station along Samora Machel Avenue in Harare which had five passengers and heading for Murehwa.

On approaching the 50-kilometre peg of the Harare-Nyamapanda Road, one of the passengers produced a pistol and commanded Jiri to swallow a red tablet that he was handed by a female passenger.

Fearing for his life, Jiri complied and he fell unconscious immediately after taking the pill.

He regained consciousness a while later and realised that he had been dumped near Juru Growth Point minus his belongings – $380 cash, groceries and clothes.

Jiri reported the matter at Juru Police Station.

The perpetrators are still at large.
