Looking at the unseen
ISAIAH 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
God, the Creator of Heavens and earth, is inviting His creation, mankind, to come and reason with Him. What an honour to have God to give an invitation!
He did not have to do that, but He did it.
And He invited “whosoever will, may come.”
He just did not select a certain person, or a certain group, or a certain denomination, or a certain colour, He said, “Whosoever will, let him come.”
God invites us!
The God of Heaven invites you and I, poor finite people, to come to Him and talk it over on Eternal Life.
He said though our sins be as red as scarlet, yet they shall be white like snow.”
It is beyond understanding that God is trying to reason with the creation that He made.
Surprisingly, He has been turned down by many people.
God is saying: “Come and let us just sit down and talk it over.”
God is calling His people to a conference.
What is a conference for?
Why does it happen?
It is when an emergency arises.
That is when the nations get together on a common ground, and they come together for a common purpose.
And then they select a certain place to have this conference, usually somewhere that is beautiful, and some place that they can feel relaxed, because they must be at their best to make their resolutions.
There has been the Berlin Conference, the Geneva Conference, and closer home, the SADC Conference.
These conferences are held at chosen places which are good for the atmosphere they create, that is conducive to fruitful discussions.
Recently, SADC held a conference to tackle the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
They held a conference on the events in Mozambique after their recent elections.
All these were efforts to quell a situation that would go out of hand if no solution was found.
God calls for a conference.
When Adam fell, God came down for a conference.
Word had just reached Heaven that God’s child had fallen from grace, and there was a state of emergency.
God had to come down from Heaven, because His Own child had fallen and disobeyed His laws.
And it was death penalty for disobeying these laws.
Something was supposed to be done, or all would go into chaos.
God selected a certain tree, and He called Adam and Eve together, and brought them up and held a conference with them.
And when He had come to a decision, He made a way of escape for His mortals.
And He said: “Thy seed shall bruise the serpent’s head, and he shall bruise thy heel.”
He resolved to curse the serpent and the ground.
He resolved that Eve would bear children in sorrow and that man would toil and eat from the sweat of his brow.
When Israel was serving with rigour in Egypt, God called for a conference at the burning bush, with a runaway prophet, Moses.
God had remembered that He made a promise to Abraham, not only to Abraham, but his seed after him.
God remembered that He made a promise, that those seed would sojourn in a strange land for 400 years, but He would deliver them.
It was decided that Moses, with a stick in his hand, would invade Egypt in a one-man invasion.
There was a conference at the Red Sea when God told Moses to tell Israel to go forward, despite the barrier of the sea.
There was a conference at Mt Moriah when God promised to bless Abraham and multiply his seed.
In the belly of the whale, Jonah had a conference with God.
He refused to be deterred by symptoms around him and decided that he would face the holy temple in Jerusalem that Solomon dedicated.
When God calls for a conference, please attend it.
When a crisis has arisen in your life, or a decision has to be made, or answers are sought, hold a conference with God.
Don’t just talk about your problems; hold a conference with God about them.
A solution will be found.
You can have a conference with God. God is saying if you are sick, let’s reason it out.
If the doctor said that you cannot get well, then let us take the case to God, and sit down and reason it out with Him.
Of all the conferences you have been invited to, the best conference is with God.
Normalise prayer. It is the greatest conference ever held.
Hezekiah held it and his life span was extended.
