Multi-award-winning rapper Holy Ten is set to make his long-awaited return to Bulawayo on September 19, as he is set to headline a show featuring a host of local DJs and performers.
The event is part of the rapper’s nationwide tour, which has already taken him to Harare, Gweru and Kadoma, with performances lined up in Masvingo, Kwekwe, Mutare and Harare.
Organisers said Holy Ten’s return to Bulawayo comes after a lengthy absence from the city’s entertainment circuit. “Holy Ten has been notably absent from the scene for a while, and since his highly anticipated return to Zimbabwe, this marks his first performance in Bulawayo in quite some time,” said the organisers.
They described his return as a “no-brainer”, saying his career represented a story of resilience and reinvention that could inspire local artistes and the wider entertainment industry.
Holy Ten has established himself as one of the prominent voices in Zimbabwean hip-hop since breaking onto the national scene.
His discography includes albums and projects such as Risky Life, Energy, The Book of Malachi, Musoro we Nzou, Proud Father, The New Bhundu Boyz, a collaborative project with Michael Magz, and Risky Life 2.
The rapper continued the Risky Life series this year with Risky Life 3, released in May. The 13-track album features collaborations with artistes including Tamy Moyo and Chad Chellart.
According to the organisers, Bulawayo fans will also get an opportunity to hear some of Holy Ten’s newer material, as he is yet to perform his latest album and two EPs in the city.
“Holy Ten has a new album and two EPs that he has not yet performed live in the city, giving fans an opportunity to experience a different side of his current sound,” said the organisers.
He will be supported by Elbee, MC Empire, Khaya Guru, Dosto, Keezy AM, Molfy, Babster, Khekhe, King DJ SG, Deeper My Stripe, Piccaso, Pablo, DJ Stars and Toaster.
The organisers said the supporting acts were drawn from resident DJs and local artistes who regularly perform in the city.
They said the event would also provide local talent with an opportunity to share the stage with one of Zimbabwe’s leading hip-hop artistes.
A guest of honour is also expected at the event, although organisers have kept the identity under wraps.
Holy Ten’s Bulawayo performance comes as he continues with his busy nationwide schedule, giving his local fans an opportunity to catch him live and experience his latest material.
For Bulawayo’s entertainment sector, the show is also expected to provide a platform for local artistes to showcase their talent alongside one of the country’s most recognisable hip-hop acts.
