Members of Orchestra Mberikwazvo will need to shorten their holiday for rehearsals, as the group has announced its first shows of 2026.

Fronted by the renowned sungura exponent Alick Macheso, this ensemble is celebrated for holding at least 120 performances each year, establishing itself as one of the busiest sungura groups in Zimbabwe.

Tichaona Makahamadze, the publicist for Orchestra Mberikwazvo, today announced the dates for the outfit’s return from his holiday retreat in Nyanga.

“We have rested enough, and it’s now time for work,” he emphasised.

“The first show is scheduled for January 30 at Club Manake in Ruwa, followed by a performance on January 31 at Dhana Leisure Centre in Mutoko. “We are currently rehearsing to shake off the rust after this long break,” Makahamadze added.

He noted that Macheso is eager to embark on the new season with enthusiasm, stating, “We are picking up from where we left off, with new material coming in 2026.”
