Dr Muso
Dear students
AS we prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day tomorrow, a day known for showing love and appreciation, let us remember that love is not only for friends and family.
It is also shown through respect, kindness and gratitude to the people who make our daily lives better, including those who work quietly behind the scenes at our school.
Every day, our cleaners, janitors and groundsmen arrive early and work tirelessly to ensure that we learn in a clean, safe and suitable environment. They sweep our classrooms, clean the toilets, empty the bins, cut the grass and maintain the school surroundings. Because of them, we are able to sit in fresh classrooms, use hygienic facilities and enjoy a beautiful school environment.
Treat them like your parents
These workers should be treated with the same respect you give to your parents at home. At home, your mother or father cleans, cooks and ensures you are comfortable. In the same way, these workers care for your learning environment. Without them, our school would not function properly.
Greet them every morning.
Say “Good morning” or “Thank you.”
Speak to them politely.
Respect their instructions when they remind you about cleanliness.
Kind words cost nothing, but they mean everything.
Play your part in keeping the school clean
Respect is not only shown through words, it is shown through actions.
Do not throw litter everywhere.
Do not eat sweets and throw the wrappers on the classroom floor.
Always use the bins provided.
Keep your desks and classrooms neat and tidy.
Make sure your class is always smart and welcoming.
When you visit the toilet:
Always flush after using it.
If the flushing system is not working, use the bucket provided to flush.
Leave the toilet clean for the next person.
Some students have developed a bad habit of writing on toilet walls, even using waste. This behaviour is unacceptable and unhygienic. It shows disrespect not only to the cleaners but also to yourselves and your school. A disciplined and responsible student does not behave in such a manner.
This Valentine’s Day, let’s show love
Tomorrow, as we celebrate Valentine’s Day, let us show love in practical ways:
Write a small thank-you note to a cleaner or groundsman.
Greet them with a smile.
Help keep your surroundings clean.
Encourage your friends to do the same.
True love is shown through respect, responsibility and kindness.
Let us be students who not only excel academically but also demonstrate good morals and character. Our school support staff are an important part of our community. When we respect them, we show maturity and humanity.
Let us make our school a place of love, respect and cleanliness, not just tomorrow, but every day
