Mbira princess, Hope Masike, is living her dream in France where she is captivating fans with a series of shows.

She left Harare early this week along with long-time band members Mpho Muteta and Ndomupeishe Chipendo.

In a statement, Masike’s camp described the ongoing French outing as a “tour with a difference”.

On July 5, The Hope Masike Trio performed at the Festival des Hauts de Garonne in Bordeaux.

They thrilled fans as Masike played mbira while Muteta was on the soprano saxophone. Chipendo played the alto saxophone.

“The repertoire of this set is very mbira-centric. I created this trio to celebrate the ancient mbira music of the Zimbabwean people,” she said.

“During the tour, our main focus is on playing songs from the ancient times of Zimbabwe and revisiting some of my earlier compositions. We want to take our audiences on an enriching spiritual and artistic journey of Zimbabwe.”
