Hospital ordered to pay security firm

Justice Susan Mavangira also ordered the hospital to pay Cobra Security Pvt Ltd interest at the prescribed rate of five percent from date of summons to full date of payment.
The order was issued in chambers on Monday.

According to Cobra Security’s lawyers Mushonga, Mutsvairo and Associates, the hospital entered into a contract with the firm for the provision of security services in November 2008.
The agreement was at the specific request of the hospital.

Part of the agreement, the court papers stated, required the security firm to provide security guards to the hospital at US$320 for every guard per month.

Security services were provided from November 12, 2008 to June 17, 2009 and 11 invoices for services rendered were tendered to the hospital.
However, the hospital only paid part of the costs and despite several verbal and written demands the hospital failed to pay the outstanding balance of US$57 944.
