THE Hossana Love in Africa Children’s Home in Hatcliffe on Friday received a generous donation from the Chinese Embassy, with Madam Lyu, the wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, delivering an inspiring message during the handover ceremony.
The event was attended by Ms Sharon Chivambo, the administrator of the Children’s Home, along with representatives from the local community and various organisations dedicated to children’s welfare.
During her address, Madam Lyu reflected on a previous donation made by Ambassador Zhou Ding in 2023 and underscored the significance of the upcoming International Children’s Day and the International Day of the African Child. She articulated the importance of these events, stating, “You are the flowers of the nation, you are the hope of the world.”
The handover ceremony served not only as a celebration but also as a reaffirmation of the shared commitment between China and Zimbabwe towards the well-being of children. Madam Lyu presented the donations on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, symbolising friendship and solidarity with Zimbabwe’s youth.
She emphasised the mantra, “Leaving no one and no place behind,” as a guiding principle for community support, especially for its children.
Madam Lyu also took the time to acknowledge the Loving Moms organizsation, commending their unwavering dedication over the years.
She expressed her gratitude to the teachers and staff for their relentless commitment, saying, “Your persistence in the face of challenges is a testament to the power of love in action.”
Reflecting on her own humble beginnings in China, Madame Lyu shared her personal journey, emphasising the transformative power of education and determination.
She encouraged the children at the home to pursue their dreams, stating, “Your circumstances do not define you, your courage and determination do.”
She reminded them that others from their community have achieved success, including a participant who won the “Chinese Bridge” competition and students who received scholarships to study in China.
As the ceremony marked the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe, Madam Lyu expressed pride in the partnership and the mutual progress made over the years. She urged the children to cherish the bond between the two nations, emphasising the importance of cultural exchange and kindness.
