How sportspersons will celebrate Christmas

Some will visit their loved ones in the rural areas while others will probably go out to resort areas like Victoria Falls, Matopos, Nyanga, Hwange game park among other tourist destinations in the country.
Saturday Sports Leisure caught up with various sports personalities from different sporting disciplines to find out how they will celebrate the birth of Christ.
Legendary Highlanders defender Douglas “British”  Mloyi said Christmas time is meant for people to  be with their families and loved ones and as such he will be home.

“I will obviously be at home with my family, that’s the whole essence of the day in any case,” said the former Highlanders manager who now plays social soccer for Mzilikazi Pirates together with Willard Khumalo, Jerry Sibanda, Godfrey Paradza among other former football greats.
Bulawayo Golf Club manager, Patrick Munanzvi   said he will be around town but will first go to  church to thank the Lord for taking care of him throughout the year.

“After church we will probably have lunch as a family before hosting one or two with friends,” he said.
Bulawayo Golf Club is the country’s oldest course.
Former Highlanders medic and team manager, Emmet Ndlovu said he will be headed for his farm to see progress on the fields.

“I will be going out to my plot 56 km out of town. I will  slaughter a beast, braai and enjoy with my family.
“I will be back New Year and only then will I start thinking about sport, Bosso in particular after the 2nd of January, kuzabe kunzima,” said Ndlovu who is challenging the Highlanders secretary Andrew Tapela for the post.
Bulawayo Metropolitan Darts Association organising secretary Lethukuthula Nkomo said he will be driving to his rural home in Gwanda for a family function.

“I will be having the tombstone unveiling ceremony for my in-laws   and then a few drinks after that,” he  said.
Bulawayo Athletics Board secretary Dailes Bingadadi said Christmas time was the time for one to be at home, reflect on the past months and plan ahead for the following year.

“Right now I am passing through Norton coming to Bulawayo as I want to be with my family for the day. I just want to relax and plan for the coming year,” she said.
Bulawayo Pool League secretary and spokesman, Patrick Chinake said he will be in the capital for a relative’s wedding.
“It will be a double celebration for me as I will celebrate the day and my niece’s wedding, my hands are really full,” he said.
