Government ministries are exploring ways of mainstreaming the psychomotor concept in primary, secondary and higher education, a Cabinet minister has said. Minister of State for Liaising on Psychomotor Activities in Education Josiah Hungwe told journalists in the capital yesterday that his ministry was collaborating with the ministries of Primary and Secondary Education and Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development to infuse the psychomotor domain into all levels of teaching and learning.
“Consultations are on-going with the education ministries and other relevant ministries that constitute the inter-ministerial committee on mainstreaming the psychomotor concept into education,” he said.
“We are involved and people are already involved in the discussions about the curriculum and what aspects need to be changed. It is a process as you know but we have already started and engagement has begun to that effect so we must expect some results sooner than later.”
He said integration of psychomotor skills into the education system would boost job creation capacity and fight poverty.
