A MAN from Magunje, only identified as Stopper, is on the run after butchering his wife with a knife all over her body after an altercation.

The gruesome murder has sent shockwaves through the village.  The late Lydia Kademaunga met a brutal end at the hands of her husband while in the company of her friend Lizzie Dzepatsva, 37 of Dzepatsva village, Chief Dendera.

The brutal murder happened on July 30.

Kademaunga and Dzepatsva were together at her homestead when her husband arrived.

Stopper then asked Dzepatsva to excuse them as he wanted to have a private discussion with his wife.

However, Kademaunga sensed danger and told Dzepatsva not to leave.

Mashonaland West Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, told H- Metro, this did not augur well with Stopper.

He demanded his property and was given his clothes and a gas stove.

Kohwera said when Stopper was about to leave, he demanded a beast which he had paid to his in-laws as part of lobola.

“ Stopper in a fit of rage suddenly drew an Okapi knife from his trouser pocket and stabbed his wife several times all over her body,” said Kohwera.

He added:

“Her friend Dzepatsva shouted for help from neighbours,” said Kohwera.

He said Kademaunga fell down whilst bleeding profusely and Stopper bolted and vanished into the darkness.

“Kademaunga was rushed to Hurungwe district hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival,” said Kohwera.

He said the police is concerned wiith the number of murder cases in the province with most of them emanating from domestic disputes and petty issues.

“People must respect the sanctity of life and find possible ways to avoid conflicts leading to loss of life,” said Kohwera.

He appealed to members of the public with information that can assist in investigations to approach any nearest police station.
